About Me

My Story

I was raised on Wonder Bread and sugar-coated cereal, Vienna sausage “nitsuke”, and Tang.  But dinner time was another story. After a full day’s work, my mother managed to cook a homemade dinner every night to feed the large family. Food connected us and the dinner table was our anchor.

The natural food movement came along.  My eyes were opened to the wonder of whole foods and the natural healing power of our body when given the right foods. The limits of medicine and modern technology in making foods in our supermarkets healthier was being exposed.

I found that in dietetics I could combine my desire to help people and my interest in biology, food, and different cultures all in one wonderful field of study.

Maybe it was my Dad’s influence that I find food and meal times sources of happiness. Food involves all of our senses and it connects us. Good food that fuels the body, soul, and spirit is important to me. It gives me great pleasure to help others transform their relationship with food for the better.

My Philosophy

My approach is simple and gimmick-free. I want to empower you. I will not give you a fish to feed you for a day; I’ll teach you how to fish so that you can feed yourself for your lifetime.

We’ll work together to create a personalized, science-proven plan that takes into account your wants and needs, your likes and dislikes, your lifestyle and schedule. I’ll walk with you as you make the changes that will change your life, coaching you along the way to help you stay on track.

There are no shortcuts to better health. There are no magic pills to eating right. You will need to work hard to break old habits and build new ones. I’ll be your coach to help you establish a healthy way of eating and understand the science behind the foods that nourish your body.

I believe good health and good food go hand in hand, and my nutrition counseling services are designed to help you enjoy both.

My Journey To Good Health

I’ll be honest, I’m walking the same road. I’m busy like you and I live in a community with obligations and expectations that easily squeeze out eating right and healthy habits.

Several years ago, I found myself with a choice: I had to change my lifestyle or face getting diabetes that would demand more of my time, energy, and money to manage, not to mention future physical limitations, more doctors’ visits, and pills.

I didn’t want that. And, I didn’t like feeling sluggish and a future filled with doctors’ visits, worrisome tests, and prescription medicines.

So, I applied what I knew to make adjustments to my eating habits and my lifestyle. The body is marvelously designed to heal itself and so I tapped into its natural healing ability that I let get off track through my lifestyle choices. Some habits were easy to change, other habits took a lot more work. I was surprised what it took to change some of my habits!

Today, my health is in a better place. And I will use what I learned fighting for my own health to help you take control of yours.

Eating healthy can be delicious and easy.
